Dr. Patrick J. Nolan is a native of New Orleans and has been practicing orthodontics since 1990. He is the third generation of his family to carry on the tradition of excellence in dental care. He received his dental degree from Louisiana State University. He then moved to Michigan and completed the orthodontic residency program at the University of Michigan.
Dr. Nolan is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics, and an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthodontics and Pediatric Dentistry at the University of Michigan, teaching in the graduate orthodontic program. His primary teaching responsibility is in the orthodontic early treatment course taught to the first-year orthodontic residents. His research interests include the orthodontic and orthopedic treatment of young children and imaging of the temporomandibluar joint. He co-teaches an annual continuing education course at the University of Michigan and has lectured at the annual meeting of the American Association of Orthodontists.
Dr. Nolan holds a fellowship in the World Federation of Orthodontists, and is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists and the American Dental Association. He is past president of the Michigan Orthodontic Alumni Association. He has also received the Chancellors Award for Excellence and the Kott Research award.
Dr. Nolan lives in Plymouth, with his beautiful wife, Lisa, and their five children. He enjoys boating on Portage Lake, attending the University of Michigan Summer Camp with his children, and skiing in northern Michigan during winter. Perhaps his greatest passion is simply laughter. He frequently plays practical jokes on fellow staff members and just can't pass up an opportunity to hear a new joke from one of his many patients. His all-time favorite TV shows are Seinfeld and The Office.
